Coming Soon: Group Classes Return in 2026
We’re thrilled to announce that our group classes will restart at the beginning of 2026. This pause has allowed us to deepen our practice and bring fresh insights from our time in Buenos Aires directly to Amsterdam. We’re already accepting registrations for 2026—your early interest helps us tremendously with planning and preparation. Don’t hesitate to reach out and let us know you’re interested!
In the meantime, private lessons continue to be available for those eager to begin or continue their tango journey.
When and Where
Starting early 2026, Alfonsina and Michael’s tango classes will resume in the welcoming studio at Plantage Middenlaan 52, Amsterdam-Oost. The location is easy to reach and offers a serene setting where you can focus on the dance, away from the city’s bustle. The setting remains small and cozy, designed for connection, with a maximum of six participants per class for that unique balance between personal attention and collective energy.
Since we are still planning, we have not decided yet which day of the week our classes will be. You can reach out to us and talk to us about your availabilities.
A Class for All Levels
The small group size allows for an adaptive, personalized experience. With two instructors, you benefit from diverse perspectives and enhanced individual attention. Beginners can learn the foundational steps in a supportive environment, while more experienced dancers can refine their skills with Alfonsina and Michael’s complementary guidance, now enriched by their recent Buenos Aires experience. Whether you’re taking your first steps or exploring more intricate movements, these classes are tailored to your needs.
Private Lessons Available Now
While we prepare for the group classes to resume, private lessons are available for those who want to start their tango journey immediately or continue developing their skills. These sessions offer personalized instruction with the full attention of both Alfonsina and Michael, allowing you to progress at your own pace while benefiting from their combined expertise.

Teachers Enriched by Buenos Aires
For Alfonsina Macchi Herrera and Michael Bijnens, Argentine tango is more than a dance—it is a way of being, a form of poetry, and a language that expresses what words cannot. Their recent immersion in Buenos Aires, studying and performing with Grupo Dancel, has further deepened their understanding of tango’s authentic spirit.
Alfonsina’s foundation runs deep—having danced since childhood, exploring ballet, contemporary dance, and most profoundly, tango. Trained in Buenos Aires under the renowned Rodolfo and Gloria Dinzel at Cetba, she brings both technical precision and artistic sensitivity to her teaching.
Michael contributes his own unique perspective to their shared approach, and together they create a teaching dynamic that balances structure with creativity. Their method focuses not on memorizing figures or perfecting choreography, but on discovering your unique way of moving, expressing, and connecting through tango.
Tango as Expression
For Alfonsina and Michael, tango is more than a dance; it’s a way of telling stories. As they often say, “Tango isn’t about doing figures, just as poetry isn’t just about words.” In their classes, biomechanics and technique are essential, but only as tools to find comfort and freedom in your movements. Beyond that, tango becomes a language—a way to express emotions, narratives, and parts of yourself that can’t be put into words.
Together, they create a space where each student can discover their unique voice in tango, blending precision with freedom, and guiding you through a tradition that never repeats itself.
