About me

Born in 1993 in Rosario, Argentina, Alfonsina Macchi Herrera has been immersed in dance from a young age. Her journey began with ballet as a child, evolving into a passion for modern dance, and later blossoming into a deep love for tango. During her high school years, she joined a performance group dedicated to tango, laying the foundation for her artistic path.

From 2016 to 2024, Alfonsina lived in Buenos Aires, where she refined her craft. She studied at the prestigious Tango University CETBA, performing with its ballet company. She later collaborated with renowned figures like Eric Dinzel and Flavia Kohut, joining their ballet and performing on notable stages. Additionally, she pursued a university degree in choreography, expanding her expertise and working as a performer, dancer, and actress in various dance and theater companies.

In 2024, Alfonsina met Michael Bijnens, whose shared passion for tango led them to Amsterdam, where they now reside. Despite her move, she remains deeply connected to Buenos Aires, planning regular visits to continue her private studies and deepen her relationship with tango.

For Alfonsina, tango is far more than a sequence of steps—it is a profound art form rooted in personal expression, dramaturgy, and poetic depth. Drawing from her theater background, she explores the layers of meaning and emotion within tango, transcending mechanical execution. While technique is vital, Alfonsina’s vision is to transform tango into an individual and unique art form, honoring its tradition while embracing innovation and personality. Through her teaching, she seeks to bring out the voice of each dancer, blending the timeless and the personal in every step.
